Super Cars
WE DO NOT HAVE A SUPERCAR CATEGORY AT THE 2017 GREENBRIER CONCOURS
At The Greenbrier Concours d'Elegance we define "Super Cars" as cars that are high-performance sports cars or grand tourers. Limited-production specials from an "elite" automaker, Models that appeal to enthusiasts, from smaller manufacturers, one-of-a-kind "showcase" project vehicles built by custom car retrofitters, usually extensively modified collectible muscle cars or grand tourers updated to the latest "streetable" racing technology.
Super cars usually have a high horse power to weight ratios and are capable of tremendous acceleration from 0 to 60 and often reach 200 miles-per-hour in less than 25 seconds. They are built of exotic materials like magnesium, tungsten, and carbon fiber. Often they are made of the same materials and constructed in the same manner and style of professional racing vehicles. They are normally very expensive.
In short, a supercar is a car that combines speed, handling, and unique design and represents the pinnacle of the automaker's art. Examples are the Bugatti Veyron, the Koenigsegg One, the McLaren F1, the Enzo Ferrari, the Lamborghini Murcielago, the 918 Porsche, and others that embrace many of the same attributes.
