Participants can arrive as early as 7:30 a.m., and take in the scenery of Kate's Mountain, while meeting some of the other drivers and learning about their cars at Kate's Mountain Lodge.
Kate's Mountain, just across the street from The Greenbrier's main gate, was named for Catherine "Kate" Carpenter, who in September 1756, took refuge with her child on the mountain's peak during an Indian attack in which her husband Nicholas Carpenter was killed near Fort Dinwiddie (also known as Byrd's Fort and Warwick's Fort). |
Enjoy an incredible breakfast at the exclusive Greenbrier Sporting Club Summit Lodge to start your day right, before hitting the roads for a memorable drive. The breakfast allows drivers the opportunity to mingle with fellow car enthusiasts, as well as explore new aspects of America's Resort. The 7,500-square-foot, Adirondack-inspired, oak and timber framed gathering place offers a picture-perfect respite from the world below. Perched majestically atop the 3,300-foot peak of Greenbrier Mountain, The Summit blends seamlessly with the surrounding forest, offering resident members unique leisure experiences to complement the sporting life.

At 10:30 a.m., a spirited drive takes participants through the back roads of West Virginia on their way to Pipestem Resort State Park. They'll travel through Alderson, Talcott and other historic Mountain State towns before arriving at the park.
Pipestem Resort State Park gets its name from the native pipestem or meadowsweet plant. Native Americans and early pioneers used the hollowed-out twigs as shafts for tobacco pipes. For generations, the descendants of Scotch, Irish and English farmers farmed the relatively flat plateau on the east side of the Bluestone River Gorge. |
While at Pipestem Resort State Park, participants can explore the sprawling 4,050-acre property, located on the border of Summers and Mercer counties. Included in the drive is a ride on the Canyon Rim Aerial Tram to Mountain Creek Lodge on the bottom of the Bluestone River Gorge. There, participants will enjoy a boxed lunch provided by The Greenbrier while taking in the incredible sights of the West Virginia landscape.
