WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV - The Greenbrier Concours d'Elegance is honored to announce that the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA) has selected our event to present two very distinctive and prestigious awards during our inaugural Concours d'Elegance.
The two awards are the National Automotive Heritage Award and the HVA/FIVA Preservation Award. They will be presented on Sunday, May 6, 2018 during the award presentation of The Greenbrier Concours d'Elegance.
Over the last 125 years the adoption of the automobile has had a profound impact on the development of virtually every aspect of modern culture. The cars, motorcycles and trucks that remain chronicle our past and help us understand who we are, where we have been and where we may be headed.
As a society, we have an obligation to preserve these historic vehicles and related artifacts as a lasting record of our progress.
Through the collective efforts of enthusiasts, specialists and professionals, the HVA aims to help ensure that our automotive heritage is more broadly appreciated and carefully preserved for future generations.
With over 375,000 members, the HVA is the world’s largest historic vehicle owners’ organization. The HVA was founded in 2009 through the philanthropic support of Hagerty and became the designated North American representative of FIVA (Fédération International des Véhicules Anciens), the international federation of historic vehicle organizations.
The National Automotive Heritage Award is presented by the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA) in recognition of a vehicle’s significance as part of our National Automotive Heritage and celebrates vehicles that are historically important in our past.
For decades, immaculately restored vehicles have wowed spectators at many concours around the world. But more and more, the vehicles that seem to most impress judges and the crowd are the ones that have been largely left alone.
No vehicle is completely “original.”
The FIVA Award, now presented at many of the country’s most important concours, was designed to both celebrate and acknowledge these one-of-a-kind vehicles.
