The Packard Motor Car Company
Question and Answer

Three experts in the automotive field with an incredible knowledge of the history and design of the Packard Motor Car Company — this year's featured class — will be on hand at The Greenbrier Theatre Saturday, May 6 at 3 p.m. Tox Cox will lead the discussion with West Peterson and Ralph Marano, and the panel will also answer questions from the audience.

About Ralph Marano
Marano is known worldwide as one of the top Packard collectors around the globe. His collection numbers more than 80 classic automobiles, every single one of them 100-point concours quality. The Marano collection Is shown in a glassed-in building in Garwood, which is his private museum. Marano started out with buying his first car at 12 for $55 and that was back in 1947. He continues to seek out and purchase more and more specialty Packards. His first Packard was bought when he was still working at Sears and Roebuck in 1978 during a stay in a hospital after a horrific automobile accident. Marano has experienced more than four decades in the classic car hobby with a special affection for the Packard and Darrin marque. His expertise led to five appearances on the television show, "Chasing Classic Cars" between 2013 and 2017. He owns and operates the family business, Marano and Sons Auto Sales Inc., with his sons.

About West Peterson
Peterson is the Editor in Chief and Director of Design since 2005 of Antique Automobile, the bi-monthly publication of the Antique Automobile Club of America (the oldest and largest automotive historical society in America). He has been the recipient of the “Lee Iacocca Award,” given for dedication to excellence in perpetuating an American automotive tradition, and the Society of Automotive Historians’ “Richard and Grace Brigham Award,” which recognizes the most exemplary editorial, graphic or historical content published in a calendar year. Peterson is also a professional automotive appraiser, a job he has performed admirably for nearly four decades.

About Tom Cox
A member of The Greenbrier Concours d'Elegance Steering Committee, Cox has been buying and selling antique cars since before he could drive. A steady diet of Matchbox and Hot wheels cars coupled with an interest in engines of all kinds as a young boy led him on an automotive journey that not only continues to this day but intensifies by the week. Tom has bought and sold hundreds of vintage cars and does all of his own mechanical work. He has also been a legislative advocate for the automotive hobby for 30 years and has worked to protect it by working to craft hobby-friendly legislation in over 30 states and hundreds of municipalities. He has argued for hobbyist issues before the U.S. Congress. Joining the Antique Automobile Club of America at age 13, Tom has served its membership as an AACA National Board Member for 15 years, and has served two non-consecutive terms as AACA National President. An accomplished AACA Senior Master Judge, he has over 175 judging credits and serves on AACAs National Awards Team as well as its special Zenith Awards judging team. If it's an AACA National show you will likely find him out on the field, but he has judged at Concours and shows across the country. You might also find him as a panelist, moderator, or emcee at numerous national automotive events. Cox is in his 21st year as a member of the Board of Directors and Past President of the Virginia Museum of Transportation, and he serves on the Board of the Rolls Royce Foundation. The only things he loves as much as cars is music, dogs, cats and friends.
