An evening of horse racing and horsepower on Saturday, May 4, begins at 6 p.m., with a Cocktail Hour. The Kentucky Derby pre-race action will be shown on giant televisions throughout the room, and the Cocktail Hour — which will include The Greenbrier's signature mint julep — will conclude with the race on the screens at 6:50 p.m.
Each of our partner charities — AACA Library and Research Center, West Virginia Autism Training Center and First Responders Children's Foundation — will have silent auction items throughout the Cocktail Hour. The money raised will go directly to those charities. We'll also have a little fun with the Kentucky Derby by offering $50 tickets with a chance to win big. Tickets can be dropped in a box representing the number of the horse of your choice. One card will be drawn from the winning box to win half of the money raised from ticket sales. The other half will go directly to the charities. Other prizes drawn from the winning box include Greenbrier getaways, Greenbrier activities and more. Purchase advance tickets HERE, or bring cash to the event to purchase at the door. A buffet dinner filled with favorites from The Greenbrier's award-winning culinary team will follow at 7 p.m., inside The Greenbrier's largest ballroom, Colonial Hall. Entertainment and dancing will be available to keep guests engaged throughout the night, and the event wraps up around 9 p.m. Business casual dress is required, and Kentucky Derby wear is encouraged.
